MILVERTON HOUSE NEWS

18 January 2008

Dear Parents

I would like to welcome everyone back to school after the Christmas break, which now seems such a long time ago. The children have just completed their first full week in 2008 and are all now raring to go and work levels are increasing. The clubs programme is in full swing and activities are buzzing around the school.

I would like to wish the Year Six children good luck with their final examination for their chosen secondary schools, now begins the anxious wait for the results which should be published later in the year. The children and teachers have all worked hard to prepare themselves for their chosen examinations and I wish them the best of luck. The eagerly awaited minority sports programme will be in action in the forthcoming weeks and the Year Six children will be given the opportunity to experience a range of exciting activities. Children in Year Six can enjoy a long weekend as they are not in school on Monday following the early start to the term.

This term has seen the introduction of a new member of staff, Mrs Jassal who is now working with Mrs Casey in the Year 1 team. I would like to welcome Mrs Jassal to the school and hope that the children have made a successful transition from one teacher to another.

The school council began their fundraising this week and a range of games and stalls have been organised by the children to raise money to give to charity. Many thanks to the school council and to parents who have donated prizes for the children to utilise.

Many thanks to Mrs Baker who has organised the uniform sale for this afternoon. Details of uniform currently available may be found on display in reception. We currently hold numerous duffel coats, however most are age 4 or 6. If parents would like to donate/sell items through the PTA please contact Mrs Baker through the school reception.

I hope that school calendars have been helpful and I would already like to add a couple of items to the contents of the calendar.

Friday 22nd February - Entry Photos will be taken with the other classes as on the calendar
Friday 4th April - Junior Choir is participating in the Hospice Concert at the Bedworth Civic Hall, letters to follow. (Evening Performance starts at 6.30pm)

Further additions will be made through the school web site which continues to evolve.

The Under 11 boys football team have managed to qualify as Nuneaton Small Schools Champions and have progressed to the county finals to be held in Stratford in January. Due to examinations some of our younger children may get the chance to represent the school. The boys are looking forward to the opportunity of progressing past the county finals as there may be the chance of playing in the National Finals at Wembley! Good luck the Team.

Mr O Pipe

Head Teacher
