Year 5 Football Tournament (Milby 2008)
Team
Oliver Basham (Captain) Josh Hinton, Robbie Stowers, Jamie Wilson, Jack Bailey, Jamie Roe, Freddie MacArthur.
Match 1
Milverton v Twycross
1-0 Jamie
Jack and Jamie R, did Milverton proud on their first outing for the team defending well and showing great strength on the field. Josh saved a terrific ball which was taken from just inside their half, even Petr Cech would have been proud of. Freddie took the ball off the attacker passed it to wide to Robbie who crossed in a lovely ball to Jamie W who volleyed it into the top corner. 1-0. Seconds from the end of the match it could have been 2-0 when Jack hit the post….unlucky but a great start for Milverton.
Milverton v St Joe's
6-0 Jamie 3, Robbie, Jack, Oli
St. Joes never got off the starting block in game 2 with some great balls wide from Oli and Freddie the Midfielder's rang rings around St Joes defence. The passing was not as good as the first game but the boys all worked really hard.
Milverton v St Nics
0-2
Unfortunately, that was the end of the winning streak for Milverton. Having to play back to back games with no subs, took its toll on the boys as they started to tire against a very strong St. Nicks team. Robbie was injured but played on, and Jamie did a sterling job in the middle winning the ball back for Milverton. Oli had an attempt at goal taking the ball the length of the pitch to no avail.
Josh (Cech) pulled off some terrific saves.
The boys are great sportsmen, shaking hands with the opposition after each game. We were very proud of them.
Well done Milverton!

Tournament 15/4/08
Team: Laura Davis, Sophie Bates, Charlotte bates, Elizabeth Barter, Claudia Friston, Sophie Hobbs, Narissa Pankhania
Match 1 Wembrook 2 Milverton 3
We were in a happy mood as our first match was against Wembrook as we had beaten them in the past. We won the toss and took first pass. Wembrook were slow to defend and Sophie passed to Honor and on to Narissa who scored. Both Narissa and Honor scored late in the game , a great victory 3- 2.
Match 2 St Joseph's 2 Milverton 0
St Joseph's started on the back foot expecting the victorious Milverton to continue with their good form. However there were few chances to shoot at goal and we had to defend for much of the game. Both Honor and CHarlotte defended well however St Joseph's scored twice late in the game.
Match 3 St Nicholas 2 Milverton 1
We had a good chance of reaching the semi finals however St Nicholas scored soon after the start of the game. Narissa then scored for Milverton. However it seemed that the Hoop had cling film over it and the ball would simply not drop. The game ended with St Nicholas the winners.
Match report Honor Klesnik Edwards, Charlotte Bates, Laura Davis, Sophie Bates.

Milverton House Under 11's Rugby vs Bablake
On Thursday 24th January the Milverton Under 11 team played one of their final rugby matches of the season and recorded their best win of the season against Bablake. Both teams were physically well matched and Bablake had an excellent scrum half and fly half combination and some excellent strong runners in the centre.
The Milverton Boys played with a flamboyant style recording six tries in the first half, these coming from strong running forward play from Mitchell and Joshua and some excellent running rugby from Matthew and Ryan. All of the squad were given a good run during this game and Robbie and Charlie played roles in this fixture. The half time whistle went with the score standing at 30 - 0 to Milverton.
As the teams changed ends the Bablake team returned with determination and recorded two quick tries before the Milverton team could respond. Once again the tackling of both teams was tested and the Milverton passing proved to be their strength and five more tries were recorded. The end score 55- 15 to Milverton.

Football Association Under 11 County Football Finals
The boys traveled on an exceptionally cold Saturday morning to a tournament held in Stratford. The team was our regular Under 11 team who had qualified as Nuneaton Small Schools winners for 2007/8.
The first match saw Milverton matched with Crescent School (Rugby Winners) a superb match with only a handful of shooting chances for both teams. With only a minute left in the match Crescent fed the ball through to their striker who tucked the only goal of the match into the Milverton Goal. This fixture soon ended at 1- 0 to Crescent. An unlucky result however a good match was played by all.
The second match was played against Coughton (Warwick Winners) and once again was an equally matched fixture however Milverton saw many goal scoring opportunities go amiss. It seemed that once again it was not to happen , late in the second half Milverton were caught napping and Coughton scored leaving the score for this fixture as 1-0.
The final fixture against Newton Regis saw the full effect of a Milverton team on the rampage and the boys clocked up six goals in rapid succession, Captain Matthew Bird recording the first with an excellent headed goal direct from a corner. The team then performed to an excellent standard and more goals flooded in. The boys showed that they really were a force to be reckoned with and demonstrated great confidence and skill throughout.
This left the boys as third place in the tournament and Crescent school qualified for the next round of fixtures as County Champions. Many thanks to Mr Stowers and Mr Wilson who found themselves refereeing fixtures and to all parents who came to support the boys. I hope that the team repeats this effort in the next few weeks in fixtures with Bablake school and later when most of the team move into year 6. Well done the team!!

Milverton House School Rugby
Under 11 Fixtures October 2007
This month saw our first two rugby fixtures for quite some time at Milverton. The boys have been learning the skills of rugby since September and have formed a super squad. I was delighted to see the boys play an aggressive yet fair game against an experienced Stoneygate College. Both fixtures were contested with vigor and the boys excelled my expectations. Solid tackling and running from both teams was a joy to see.
Stoneygate relied on a strong running center who managed to score a handful of tries in both matches however in the second fixture the Milverton boys managed to stifle his running. Great play from Joshua Hinton, Matthew Bird and Jamie Wilson gave the Milverton boys some excellent attacking opportunities and the newly found tackling strength of Ryan Letts encouraged the team. A particularly hard tackle in the second match really showed the Stoneygate boys that Milverton was up for the match!!
David Hunt Soccer Tournament May
2007
The Under 11 football team recently played in the David
Hunt Soccer Tournament held in Ashby De La Zouch and returned
with a fantastic trophy.
The First round saw Milverton matched against Twycross
(A), Hill Top and Ashby C of E schools and the boys managed
to win two games and draw one. This was just enough to qualify
as the leading team going into the semi- finals.
The Semi Final between Milverton and Twycross (B) was a
good game and Milverton eventually won this match 1-0.
The Final between Milverton and Packington School started
well for Milverton who scored in the first two minutes via
a well-struck volley from Joshua Spencer who scored later
in the second half to make the result 2-0 to Milverton.
All of the children played brilliantly and showed excellent
sportsmanship in every match. The boys returned to school
with winner’s medals and a huge trophy to display
in school. Well done the team!!
